European Latest News

With over 500 players attending the 2017 European Championships in Blackpool,in excess of £16,000 prize money on offer and 8 solid days of “Live Streaming” the sport of World Rules Pool has taken another historic move forward.

16 countries and 63 teams will play out what is the largest event ever organised by the World and European Eightball Pool Federations, in terms of player involvement.

There are 7 divisions for the Europeans, with early rounds played in a round-robin format plus individual tournaments for each division. A massive entry of 256 for the Men’sindividual event will make this a hotly contended title with a lot of top amateurs gaining their places in the nationwide qualifiers, played in various pool clubs, adding to the national team members already in the event.

Qualifiers are becoming a very popular way of gaining entry to these events and any pool clubs who have missed out on the qualifiers for this event should use the contact form on this website for details of the World Championship and World MastersQualifiers, which will be starting in all parts of the UK from April. With a £45,000 prize fund at the Worlds in addition to the prestige of competing in, and potentially winning, such a great event, make sure that your local players have the opportunity to compete.

One interesting aspect of the Europeans is that several African nations have requested a place in the championships as guests.

They will also play for the first ever “African Eightball Pool Team Championships” along with the African Individual Cup. Watch out for your country on our Live Streaming. We’re expecting interest to be high this year with our total coverage of the event, with upwards of half a million hits expected during the tournament, make sure you share the link when it’s released so no one misses out!

This first event will be the start of a long term project to have an All African Nations World Rules Eightball Championships as a regular feature, played on the continent of Africa.Any African countries who want to join the World Eightball Pool Federation and be part of the above competition should contact this website for further details.

Finally, a big thank you to France for hosting a very successful European Championship in 2016 and to England for this year’s hospitality. Next year’s event will see us return to some February Sun in Malta.
